Built by integrators, for real environments

THOR AV was founded by AV professionals with 20+ years of hands-on installation experience. These mics reflect what actually matters in live sound — not just spec sheets.

Omnidirectional Capsules

Both the HAMMER and SHADOW use omni polar patterns — natural sound pickup with high gain before feedback, ideal for dynamic live environments.

Presenter-First Design

Every dimension — capsule housing, boom diameter, cable thickness, weight — is optimized to stay invisible on camera and comfortable across a full service or show.

Detachable, Replaceable Cables

Cables take the abuse. THOR AV built both models with detachable cables so a worn connector means a cable swap — not a new mic.

Broad Connector Compatibility

Available with TA4F, 3.5mm, XLR3, Hirose4, MicroDot, and LEMO connectors — compatible with Shure, Sennheiser, Audio-Technica, Line 6, MIPRO, and more.

Skin-Tone Color Options

Black, Brown, and Tan options on both models. The SHADOW SH20 can also be painted with alcohol markers for an exact skin-tone match.

Made in Minnesota

THOR AV is based in Minneapolis, MN — the same market AVE serves. Their products are designed and supported by a team that understands the real-world needs of local AV integrators.

Made for your environment

THOR AV headset mics perform equally well across worship, theater, and corporate environments — wherever a speaker needs to move freely and sound great.

Houses of Worship

High gain before feedback, discreet appearance, and skin-tone color options make both models ideal for weekly services with volunteer-managed sound.

Guest speakers and special events

Livestream and broadcast environments

Theater & Stage

Articulate, discreet, and secure under show pressure. Both models stay in place through movement and deliver every syllable clearly to the audience.

Musical theater productions

Performing arts programs

Conference & Corporate

Clean speech reinforcement for boardrooms, training rooms, conferences, and hybrid meetings where presenters need hands-free freedom.

Common questions

What is the difference between the HAMMER SE-9 and SE-11? +
The only difference is boom length. The SE-9 has a 90mm (3.5") boom and the SE-11 has a 115mm (4.5") boom. All other specifications — capsule, sensitivity, weight, connectors, and colors — are identical. Choose based on your presenter's preferred mic placement.
What is the difference between the HAMMER SE and the SHADOW SH20? +
The HAMMER SE is a single-ear design at 2 grams with a fixed boom and a 4mm capsule housing. The SHADOW SH20 is a dual-ear reversible design at 5 grams with THOR's ReEx™ retractable/extendable boom and a smaller 3mm subminiature capsule. The SH20 also has a higher max SPL (130.5 dB vs. 115 dB) and offers MicroDot and LEMO connector options. Both are excellent — the right choice depends on your presenter's preferences and your wireless system.
What connector do I need? +
This depends on your wireless transmitter. Common options: TA4F for Shure and Line 6; Hirose4 for Audio-Technica (most models); 3.5mm for general use; MicroDot for Lectrosonics and others; LEMO for Shure ULXD1/AD1/ADX1, Sennheiser EW-DX SK, and Sound Devices A10/A20. If you're unsure, contact AVE before ordering — we'll confirm the right connector for your specific transmitter.
Are these mics good for houses of worship? +
Yes. Both THOR AV models were designed with worship environments in mind. The omnidirectional pattern delivers natural sound with high gain before feedback, and the discreet size and skin-tone color options keep the mic invisible on camera and on stage. The detachable cable design is especially useful in churches where mics are shared between multiple presenters week to week.
Can the SHADOW SH20 be worn on either ear? +
Yes. The SH20's SwivelFit™ design allows it to switch effortlessly between left and right ear without tools or adapters. The HAMMER SE-9 and SE-11 are single-ear designs but include a dual-ear wrap-around adapter in the box.
What should I do if I hear feedback or noise? +
Position the capsule just below the corner of the mouth to reduce plosives and breath noise. For feedback, try a high-pass filter (HPF) on the microphone channel and reduce EQ in the 300–500 Hz range. Frequencies in the 5–10 kHz range may also need slight reduction depending on the room. Each sound system is unique — some channel-level EQ tuning is normal for any headset mic in a new room.
